Think I called yesterday Hoth-like. Kidding! This today and upper 50's for Sunday and low's around 0 for Tuesday! I love the South! The weather is terrific!
See what I did there? Positive attitude. Fingers, toes, noses are not important. Run was icy and really more of a slow crawl, but hey! Moving is moving.
Feels like Yankeeville
1.2~ish miles
15 minutes yoga and foam rolling
40 sec plank for the IRC plank challenge (I'm making it a 60 day challenge, gotta pace myself)
Planks are hard!

Traffic was horrible this morning. I think some conspiracy was trying to shut down my county, 2/3 of the main roads in and out were blocked by nasty accidents. This caused my inability to make it to lap swim this morning. That or the fact that I was already running late and if I'd been on time, I'd have missed getting stuck behind the wreck. Of course, if I'd made the swim I'd have missed taking Dad to his doctor's appointment- we've missed enough of those lately.
With my AM workout nixed, I got Dad ready for the trip. It was fortunate that the appointment was so early. By the time we made it home the roads were starting to ice. And we had to stop and check on some goats. Those new kids are soooo cute!
With half the day down, I got very little accomplished the rest of the day and was looking forward to spinning it out. Again with the pater intervening. He's not comfortable today and seemed to need something every 20 min. Changed the workout to lower body strength which I could do in his living room- 2 birds, 1 stone- with his heckling encouragement. Can I say, "Done in." Why yes. Yes I can. I can also say, "Uncoordinated," and "WTF am I doing!"
Rolling it out... That only sounds right to certain ears.
Feels like Hoth
40 min lower body
20 min rolling and yoga
20 sec plank for the IRC plank challenge
20 sec plank for the IRC plank challenge
Ate supper at my brother's - completely overate (I now feel awful)

This beautiful picture comes to you today from the mind of the person who was close to going postal. I am getting over a long weekend of being sick. Missed the New Year's celebration (in bed before 10). Didn't miss the ringing in of the new year as everyone within a 20 mile radius of me set off fireworks.
Seems like everyone wanted to take advantage of the awesome January weather. Saw 17 people: 2 with dogs, 1 dressed in dressy boots (her boyfriend was wearing hiking boots), a baby in a pink bunny suit with her athletic parents, a dad with 3 teenagers, an avid local hiker, 2 fitness walkers, and a family of three enjoying chips and sodas while listening to the rushing waters of the creek.
I'd planned to hike to the Pinnacle, but the first little climb told me that was a terrible idea. I'd spent most of the weekend with a fever and body aches. Body aches do a great job mimicking the DOMS, just don't do anything to make you stronger. When I reached the Harlan Road trail I just kept straight on to the Object Lesson Trail fork. Much easier. My garmin was set to show me heart rate only. No beeping reminders of too high, too low. No time and distance to worry about. My goal was restorative of spirit, that it was restorative of body was just a bonus. I don't feel like killing anyone now. I feel like I have the power to make 2014 a year for personal growth.
I really want to become a more positive and self-motivated person, the type of person who shrugs off stumbles, builds impossible bridges over obstacles, navigates the shallows with steely-eyed determination. (Dramatic enough?)
I really want to end 2014 with a couple of race PR's, a 70.3 triathlon medal hanging on my wall, and more than $5.00 in the bank. That's doable, right?
Today's weather makes me think so.
Feels like 44 degrees in the sun.
Hike 2.9 mile mostly zone 1
20 second plank for the IRC plank challenge
25 min of runner's yoga
Zero dollars saved, but I managed to buy a nice bottle of sparkling moscato for a bestie.
