Best Thing Ever... This Week

Sexy Footsie! This is my first attempt at taping my foot- by myself. While it doesn't look like much, it makes my foot feel better. I don't know the science behind it, but anything that makes the pain less is tops in my book. I found basic information on this technique from Runner's World. And I found the tape through a local physical therapy clinic close to home. Fortunately, the PT I talked to was more than willing to talk my ear off about running and taping.

Kinesio Tape - 2" x 16.4' - Black - Water-Resistant
Kinesio tape is amazing stuff. I wish I'd made this discovery 2 months ago when the heel spurs were really starting to bother me and everything thing on my left side was breaking down. While this technique won't do anything for the bone spurs, it is helping the plantar fasciitis. I'm going to see if my brother will let me try it on his foot as he's doing his first half-marathon this Sunday as I attempt my first marathon.

I first saw kinesio tape on an older gentleman a few races back. He had both legs and a shoulder covered in the stuff. He looked a bit Fankenstein-ish. I wish I'd taken a picture of it, but my curiosity was more car-wreck than scientific.(I know! Regrets!) Thinking back on it, he had to be a running billboard. All he needed was a shirt that said, "Ask me about my cool tape!"

Today, I'd probably ask him about it. I have caught the running bug. And it gets worse each year.

When Planning the Pre-Race Run Through

Elgin QA Twin Bell Alarm Clock, Silver
1. Set alarm clock, not just program it, SET IT! Oops. And as a handy back up, the cellphone needs to be set to something other than vibrate, just as a back up. And maybe I need to get a noisier alarm clock...

Champion Double Dry® Semi-Fitted Women's Capri Pants, M-Black/Rich Berry2. Know what you are going to wear on race day, every single item. And don't plan to dress out of the dryer, especially if you are going to forget to put said clothes in the dryer in the first place. Oops. I'm probably going to wear these pants, but maybe something else...

3. And if you get a call about the same time as the race is supposed to start asking telling you to open the store because someone else is still sick, just say, "Kiss my butt! I've got a run to do!"
Maybe, I'll get this run in this afternoon. Maybe, the rain will even stop. Maybe, I'll make a million dollars today. Maybe, I should take notes so I don't forget all the things I forgot last night...
